About

I created Journey to Belonging to help build empathy across cultures and make our community more welcoming. The workshop grew out of years of working with adult learners, many of whom are immigrants. I have listened to their stories, seen their challenges, and celebrated their resilience.

By supporting people from countries such as Ukraine, Mexico, Japan, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, Nicaragua, Russia, Brazil, Haiti, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, China, Peru, Cuba, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and others, I have gained a deep understanding of the immigrant journey through real, personal connections.

The signature three-hour workshop invites participants to see the world from the perspective of immigrants, refugees, and asylees. Through hands-on activities, stories, and reflection, I address common myths, break down stereotypes, and show that we all want the same things: safety, opportunity, peace, and belonging.

Today, fear and misinformation can divide us. I offer Journey to Belonging as a place to put aside politics and connect as people. When we understand each other, we make room for compassion, and compassion helps us build stronger, more inclusive communities.
